Virtual servers

Virtual servers for development, hosting, and training. Scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective. Payment for the resources used (pay-as-you-go).

Infrastructure-as-a-Service

Cloud4Y provides scalable computing resources for rent to host virtual machines. Based on your tasks, you determine the number of cores, memory size, size and number of disks, and the operating system. You can build a virtual cloud server either on the Windows platform or on Linux.

Virtualization of cloud servers is based on solutions from one of the leading virtualization vendors.

Cloud4Y API works with S3, Terraform, VCDA, command line, and SDK.

Migrating to Cloud4Y

Cloud migration involves migrating data, settings, services, and applications to a virtual cloud server. The company actually changes only the storage, while business logic and other processes remain the same. Using cloud hosting allows you to cut costs and reduce the workload of your in-house IT staff. Cloud4Y engineers will help you to migrate to the cloud:

  • From a physical server;
  • From the virtual infrastructure on-premise;
  • From another provider.

We can also help you develop a migration strategy and plan, and conduct an inventory and analysis of existing infrastructure.

IaaS vs. VPS/VDS

Renting a server in the cloud is a more flexible and reliable alternative to virtual VPS/VDS servers. In some cases, it can be similar in cost, but benefits in functionality.

This table compares IaaS service and traditional VPS/VDS hosting.

IaaS

Resources change automatically depending on tasks
Post payment for the consumed resources, hourly billing
Basic fault tolerance of 99.982%
Virtual servers on Windows and Linux, the ability to install any software
Pay-As-You-Go – no overpayment for unused resources

VPS/VDS

Fixed allocated resources, no possibility to increase
Fixed monthly/annual fee
Low fault tolerance, physical hardware dependency
Limited OS selection, limitations in software installation options
Low price, overpayments for idle capacity

Terraform support

Terraform is a special utility that allows you to describe your cloud infrastructure in the form of textual manifests.

This product allows users to implement resource management through the Infrastructure-as-code methodology.

Terraform allows you to safely and predictably create, modify and improve your infrastructure. Terraform is an open-source infrastructure as a code software tool that encodes APIs into declarative configuration files that can be shared, validated, and edited by team members.

Advantages of Terraform

  • Terraform configuration can be saved and used for shared work by a group of operators
  • Tracking of infrastructure version history
  • User-friendly interface for secure and predictable changes to the infrastructure

vCloud Availability Support

VMware vCloud Availability is a powerful and cost-effective solution that guarantees convenient and secure migration and disaster recovery between different VMware cloud providers. Due to its good functionality and the possibility of the centralized management of the processes of adding, transferring and disaster recovery, it is indispensable during migration from one cloud provider to another. Bidirectional replication guarantees the safe movement of traffic over the Internet.

Advantages of vCloud Availability

  • Convenience. Modern HTML5-based interface, full integration with VMware Cloud Director, new models for rapid deployment of devices and a role-based access control portal.
  • Cost effective. It helps reduce operating costs, as it is independent of VMware vSphere Replication; provides detailed control of each virtual machine and vApp application, and has "failover" and "return to the main system" workflows.
  • Easy to use. The solution is designed to maximize cloud deployment. It is easy to ensure accessibility and data recovery. It integrates with VMware Cloud Director, enabling you to safely perform disaster recovery and migration in the cloud.
  • Fail-proof. Built-in security system, including the ability to encrypt data during storage and transmission, allows you to deploy reliable solutions. Means for compressing replication traffic are also part of the solution, as is end-to-end encryption through end-to-end TLS.

FAQ

How to create a virtual (cloud) server?

In the Cloud Director control panel, you can create a virtual machine (VM) from an existing pre-configured template or from an ISO image. For your convenience, you will find templates for all major operating systems in the Cloud Director console: Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, Windows Server, and more. For step-by-step instructions on how to create a virtual machine from a template or ISO image, and other useful instructions, please visit the Knowledge Base.

You can create a virtual server in the cloud by contacting the Cloud4Y sales department. Cloud servers can be deployed on the basis of Windows and Linux.

What is a cloud server?

A cloud server (or virtual server) is a virtual infrastructure that allows users to store data, perform calculations, and run applications on remote servers located in data centers. Instead of having a physical server on-site, you can use the cloud services provided by your cloud provider. Please note that Cloud4Y cloud servers are not used for gaming.

Why rent a virtual server?

Renting a virtual server allows users to access computing resources and data storage (including critical information systems and personal data) in the cloud without purchasing physical hardware. You get IT flexibility, time saving, high availability, global access, and reduced hardware costs.

What if I do not know which virtual server configuration is right for my business? What should I do?

Contact our managers via live chat or phone. Tell them in detail about your tasks and they will quickly select the most appropriate configuration for your online server. You can also send an email to support@cloud4y.ru or create a ticket using your personal account. Our specialists will contact you as soon as possible.

Can I change the cloud server configuration and rent additional cloud capacity?

Yes, you can change the virtual server resources in your personal account at any time. Changing the server configuration takes no more than 2-3 minutes and can be done in the VMware vCloud Director Control Panel (VMware vCD). For more details, please visit our Knowledge Base.

How to create a cloud server for video surveillance?

The Cloud4Y sales team can help you rent a cloud server for video surveillance. Learn more about the service on the solution page.

Virtual infrastructure protection. Is my data properly protected?

Protecting your data in the cloud is a fundamental part of what we do. We carefully select hardware and software vendors and equip our physical infrastructure with additional security controls that are monitored 24/7/365. Our physical servers are located in data centers that meet TIER III standards for data center security. At the cloud hosting provider level, customer data is protected by regulated technical data protection measures. Contact us to learn more about how your data is protected at Cloud4Y.

How are virtual servers managed?

In most cases, the customer is responsible for managing the virtual servers. If you need additional help with operating system administration or cloud applications (1C, databases, etc.), we can provide paid technical support. You can find more information about this service on our technical support page.

How to create a mail server in the cloud?

You can create a virtual mail server in the cloud by contacting the Cloud4Y sales department. Depending on your needs, you can rent several mailboxes for employees (SaaS model) or a mail server for the whole organization (IaaS model).

What is the cost of cloud server rental?

The price for renting a server depends on many parameters: number of processors, RAM and hard disk, HDD speed, location of the server, and much more. You can calculate the exact price using the Cloud4Y calculator, but on average, the price starts from 8 USD per month. For your convenience, you can contact our managers who will tell you in detail about all the factors that affect the final cost and help you choose the right parameters for your tasks.

How to calculate the cost of cloud infrastructure rental?

The price of cloud server rental is made up of the cost of resources allocated to the server when the service is ordered. It depends on the type and size of the hard disk, the number of processor cores, and the amount and frequency of RAM. You can also calculate the price yourself using the calculator on our website.
